Skill is a next-generation recruiting company powered by proprietary, patented AI technology, launched by Aquent CEO John Chuang. Drawing on 40 years of global staffing leadership, Skill was built to disrupt a long-standing industry and define the future of recruiting. My role was to capture this vision and define a dynamic, high-performance brand that represents a total departure from traditional staffing models. To establish this new brand identity, I orchestrated a high-level collaboration with Pentagram NYC to define the brand’s strategic north star: the edge. This concept encapsulates the definitive advantage of Skill’s AI machine-matching engine—shifting the paradigm to a technology-first model centered on advanced intelligence, precision, and speed.
This strategy was distilled into the breakthrough brand line, Unlimit the Search, serving as a direct challenge to the inherent limitations of manual recruiting. We gave the edge concept physical form through a multifaceted gem shape system—a visual metaphor for the speed, clarity, and precision of the technology. Together with Pentagram, we engineered a sophisticated visual language featuring custom typography and a high-contrast color palette, intentionally designed to disrupt the muted aesthetic of the traditional B2B landscape and signal the arrival of a category leader.
Following the foundational identity phase, I transitioned the brand in-house to lead its evolution and market activation. I guided my cross-disciplinary team—spanning creative, design, and experience—to transform these core elements into a scalable digital ecosystem that could be applied across channels. To drive a cohesion across the customer experience, I collaborated closely with the product team to ensure the brand identity was woven into the user journey. We built a high-impact experience at Skill.com, utilizing custom motion assets and a premium editorial platform to showcase intellectual leadership. Beyond the digital footprint, we developed a comprehensive sales enablement system and immersive event experiences, ensuring the Unlimit the Search narrative resonated with a singular, sophisticated voice as we brought this new business to market.
